About This Tour
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is a large primeval forest located in south-western Uganda. This safari will cover two parks, Bwindi and Lake Bunyonyi. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park mist-covered hillsides are blanketed by one of Uganda’s oldest and most
biologically diverse rain forests which contains almost 400 species of plants. This forest protects an estimated 459 mountain gorillas-roughly half of the world’s population. This diverse region also shelters 120 mammals including several primate species such as baboons, chimpanzees as well as elephants and antelopes. There are around 350 bird species hosted in the forest, including 23 Albertine Rift endemics. The park has four Gorilla sectors including Ruhijah,
Rushaga, Nkuringo and Buhoma. Uganda is the only country where trekkers can decide to go for the habituation process that takes place in Rushaga sector of Bwindi. This forest is also a home to the Batwa pygmies and were known as the forest keepers. Lake Bunyonyi also commonly known as the “Place of many little birds” is a peaceful and loveliest lake in Uganda.
The shores and island of the lake are mainly occupied by two tribes that are the Bakiga and Batwa. Bunyonyi has attracted a lot of visitors especially bird watchers and clear waters that are crocodile and hippo free for travellers to swim
