4 DAYS SAFARIS TO QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
Overview
Queen Elizabeth National Park is one of the popular tourist destinations in Uganda. The park has diverse ecosystems, which include sprawling savanna, shady, humid forests, sparkling lakes and fertile wetlands, which make it the ideal habitat for a classic big game park. Set against the backdrop of Rwenzori Mountains, the park’s magnificent vistas include enormous crater lakes, panoramic views of the Kazinga Channel with its bank lined with hippos, buffalo and elephants. The endless Ishasha plains also harbor lions which hide in the figure trees ready to ambush unsuspecting kob. As well as the outstanding wildlife attractions, Queen Elizabeth National Park has a fascinating cultural history, there are many opportunities for visitors to meet the local communities for storytelling, dance , music and more. The park supports at least 95 species of mammals, 600 bird species, 20 carnivores like lions, leopards, side striped jackals and spotted hyena among others.
Itinerary
DAY1. TRANSFER TO QUEEN ELIZABETH NP
Depart Kampala early in the morning at 6am, take the Masaka-Mbarara road stopping at the equator for breakfast, pictures and visit craft shops around. The next stop will be in Masaka for refreshments and stretching before we continue the journey. Proceed to the lodge, the hospitality team will welcome you with a glass of juice and also show you to your rooms. After settling in, lunch will be served shortly after which the guide will take you for zip lining and evening drive to the beautiful crater lakes, retire to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
DAY2. GAME DRIVE, BOAT RIDE & SALT MINES
Have early morning breakfast, then you go for a morning while pursuing the most congested tracks. Expect to see the buffalos, lions, elephants and if you are lucky enough, you can as well see the rare leopard and also do a visit to the Katwe salt mines, return to the lodge for lunch, later in the afternoon you will go for a boat cruise along the channel an experience not miss!!. You will appreciate the various bird life for example pelican, egrets, jacana and wildlife like the crocs, hippos, elephants among others. Return to the lodge overnight.
DAY3: EARLY MORNING CHIMP TREKKING AND ISHASHA SECTOR
Early in the morning breakfast will be served, then pursued to Kyambura Gorge for chimp trekking. “ Chambura” as pronounced by the locals is the magnificent valley the apes found in Queen Elizabeth National Park. The Gorge has stunning views of the rainforest which you will enjoy and it is positioned very close to the equator crossing the Kyambura, steep slopes of the Kyambura also attract the beautiful flamingos, a scene so beautiful as its being on sheltered by the river in the forest attracting large numbers of primates red tailed monkeys, olive baboons, white colobus monkeys, red colobus monkeys among other number of birds are often seen such as the African skimmer, papyrus canary, shoebill chapin’s catcher and so on. Guide at the Gorge will brief you and then start chimp tracking. After that wonderful experience, you will head to the lodge for lunch and an afternoon game drive to the Ishasha sector for an exciting game drive to see the tree climbing lions. Later in the evening head back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
DAY4. RETURN TO KAMPALA
After breakfast, check out and transfer back to Kampala
