Health & Safety Policy

Vaccinations

Yellow fever vaccination is required for entry to Uganda by most travellers and is checked on arrival. We recommend consulting a travel health clinic 4–6 weeks before departure for a full recommendation, which typically also covers hepatitis A, typhoid and routine boosters, plus malaria prevention for the whole trip.

Malaria

Uganda is a malaria area. Talk to your doctor about antimalarial medication before you travel, and use insect repellent and mosquito nets/coverage in the evenings, which we provide at partner lodges.

Gorilla and chimp trekking

Trekking involves several hours of walking on uneven, sometimes steep forest terrain at altitude. Uganda Wildlife Authority sets a minimum age of 15 for gorilla trekking. Tell us about any medical conditions or mobility concerns when booking so we can advise on the right sector and pace, or a porter.

Travel insurance

We require proof of travel insurance that covers trekking activities and emergency medical evacuation before we confirm gorilla or chimp trekking permits in your name, since those permits are non-refundable.

In an emergency

Your driver-guide carries a phone and first-aid kit on every trip and is your first point of contact. Our office line, +256 755 719 911, is monitored during trips for anything a guide needs to escalate.

Questions

Tell us about any medical conditions, dietary needs or mobility considerations when you book — the earlier we know, the better we can plan around them. Contact reservations@destinycentersafaris.com or +256 755 719 911.
