FAQs

Booking & Payment

How do I book a tour?

Choose a tour and use the “Enquire About This Tour” button, or contact us directly by phone or email with your preferred dates and group size. We'll confirm availability and send a written itinerary and quote before any payment changes hands.

What payment methods do you accept?

Bank transfer, mobile money, and Visa/Mastercard. We typically ask for a deposit to confirm a booking, with the balance due before departure — the exact split is confirmed on your quote, since it varies with how far out gorilla and chimp permits need to be booked.

What currency are prices in?

All prices on this site are in US dollars, the standard currency for safari bookings in East Africa. Payment can be made in USD or the Uganda shilling equivalent at the prevailing rate.

Can I change my dates after booking?

Usually yes, subject to availability — especially for gorilla and chimp permits, which are allocated by Uganda Wildlife Authority and can't always be moved. Tell us as early as possible if your plans change.

Visas & Documents

Do I need a visa for Uganda?

Most nationalities need a visa, available online in advance via the Uganda e-visa portal or on arrival at Entebbe International Airport. We can guide you through the process — see our Visa Processing service — but the final application is done directly with Uganda's immigration authority.

Is there a East Africa Tourist Visa?

Yes — a single visa covers Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda for trips that combine those countries, and is usually cheaper than three separate visas if your itinerary crosses borders.

What documents do I need for gorilla trekking?

A valid passport (used to book your permit with Uganda Wildlife Authority) and, depending on current entry requirements, proof of yellow fever vaccination. We'll confirm the current requirements when we book your permit.

On the Trip

Is there a minimum age for gorilla or chimp trekking?

Uganda Wildlife Authority sets a minimum age of 15 for gorilla trekking. Chimp tracking age limits vary by park and are noted on each tour page — ask us if you're travelling with younger family members and we'll suggest suitable alternatives.

What should I pack?

Lightweight layers, a warm layer for early morning game drives, sturdy closed shoes for walking safaris and trekking, rain protection (Uganda's parks are green year-round for a reason), insect repellent, and a good camera. We send a packing list specific to your itinerary once booked.

Do I need travel insurance?

We strongly recommend it, and require proof of cover for gorilla and chimp trekking specifically, since trekking permits are non-refundable if you can't travel.

What's the best time of year to visit?

Uganda is a year-round destination. The drier months (December–February and June–September) make for easier trekking and game drive conditions, but wildlife viewing is good throughout the year and the wetter months are quieter and greener.
